Research interest
My research focuses on the perception of social minorities. In this context, I am particularly interested in stigmatization processes, notably through the analysis of existing stereotypes towards different social groups and through the consequences of these stereotypes (essentialization, dehumanization, discrimination, self-stigmatization). I’m also interested in the influence of language (particularly group labels) on these processes of social perception and stigmatization.
Furthermore, I am also conducting research on empathy processes. Within these research, I am trying to better understand the role of empathy (particularly positive empathy, i.e., the ability to understand and feel the positive emotions experiences by others) in interpersonal and intergroup relations. I am also interested by the potential influence of contextual and linguistic variables, such as the use of a foreign-language, on the emergence of empathic reactions.
> Social minorities perception and stigmatization
> Stereotypes and social judgment
> Essentialization, dehumanization and discrimination
> Empathy
> Linguistic variables (e.g., group labels, bilingualism)
