PhD position on Developmental dyslexia and late second language learning

The Cognitive development and learning Group (from LPC Lab) at the University of Strasbourg invites applications for one PhD position in the area of developmental dyslexia and second language learning.

Current research in the group includes developmental dyslexia, visual word recognition in L1/L2 in adults and children (orthographic and morphological processing), using both on-line and off-line methods. Our lab is also equipped with a EEG platform.

The PhD project aims to investigate second language learning (English vs. German) in French- speaking dyslexic students from varying grade levels (ranging from grades 6 to 12) compared to typical readers matched on grade. The goal will be to better understand dyslexics’ difficulties when reading in a L2 by assessing reading processes within the L2 – and the impact on lexicon development- and the learning dynamics of L1 and L2 cognitive reading- related processes (especially metacognitive processes).
